Welcome to Lizario's
Hello and welcome to my cooking page. My name is Liz and I live in beautiful Brisbane. My passion is food and cooking (and sharing it with my loved ones).
I enjoyed cooking from a young age when I used to spend time in the kitchen with my grandmothers and aunties. Perhaps this is where my love of Retro food was born.
On a Friday evening, whilst sipping a glass of vino, I logged on to Facebook and asked my friends, "I'm really interested to know, what was your first cookbook and who gave it to you?" The response was overwhelming. I was surprised at how many of my friends responded and I was enthralled by their answers. A chat ensued between myself and many of my friends which lasted for a couple of hours. This was my light bulb moment - the moment where I thought "food is my future".

In early 2013 I created a Facebook page called "Retro Recipe Revival". This is a page where my family, friends and other passionate home cooks are welcome to share recipes, food pikkies etc. I enjoy running this page and have created albums such as Kids in the Kitchen, Food from my Friends, From my Glory Box and Retro Bookshelf. The page has grown to over 400 likes and continues to grow on a daily basis.

At the same time that I created Retro Recipe Revival, Campbell's Kitchen was running a promotion looking for two passionate foodies to feature in a TV commercial with the magnificent Manu Feildel. To cut a very long story short, I was selected. This was an amazing experience. Campbell's flew me to Sydney where I attended Fox Studios to film the commercial. It was without doubt one of the most exciting times of my life.
This remarkable experience was the beginning of an amazing food journey for me.
In May 2013 I was extremely fortunate to win tickets to the Asian Food Trail at the Noosa International Food & Wine Festival. I was thrilled to meet many wonderful chefs and celebrities including Matt Preston, Poh (from Poh's Kitchen) and Adriano Zumbo. To be surrounded by so many passionate foodies and great chefs was simply amazing.
Also in 2013 I volunteered at the Maleny Real Food Festival, attended the Caxton Street Seafood Festival and joined in the Kidsafe Cook Off in Brisbane where I met some very talented chefs including the gorgeous Dominique Rizzo.
My cooking philosophy is "keep it real and keep it simple". Most of the recipes on my cooking page are home style, simple, comfort food. This website is definitely a "work in progress" and I add recipes as time permits.
Thank you for joining me on my food journey and I hope that you enjoy my page. Cheers!!
